TIPS FOR AN ENJOYABLE MARDI GRAS EXPERIENCE

DO Park Downtown

Parking throughout the city is available on the street, in city parking garages and private surface lots at various rates.  For a list of city-run parking options, please visit the City of Hollywood’s Downtown Parking Guide HERE

If parking isn’t your thing, we recommend utilizing your favorite rideshare service to enjoy Mardi Gras responsibly.

DO Arrive Early

Ensure a good viewing spot for the parade and all of the surrounding activities by arriving early.  Hollywood Mardi Gras takes place from 1pm -7pm on February 27th.  Hollywood Boulevard will close to vehicular traffic between 19th and 20th Avenue at 6am on February 27th and reopen to vehicular traffic at approximately 10pm on February 27th. Many of us will be fully decked out in eye-catching costumes comprised of our greenest greens, most royal purples and glittery golds. There will be more than enough people-watching opportunities. Heck, join in and dress up to laissez les bon temps roulez!

DO Respect the Police

The Hollywood Police Department helps make sure that everything goes smoothly and safely for everyone at Hollywood Mardi Gras. With so many things going on at once, they need your cooperation so they can act quickly and decisively when someone is in need. Since their jobs are hard enough as it is, please be nice and be courteous. They just want everyone to have a good time, so let’s help them have the best day possible, too, by cooperating and listening to what they have to say.

DO NOT Bring Any of These Items

NO bottles, NO cans, NO backpacks and NO coolers are allowed at Hollywood Mardi Gras. We will confiscate any of these items and you will never, ever see them again. These restrictions are necessary to maintain a safe environment in which we can all have fun. Help us create a safe and enjoyable Mardi Gras season this year.

DO NOT Drink if You Are Under 21

The Hollywood Police Department maintains a zero-tolerance policy for underage drinking and are extremely efficient at recognizing offenders and arresting them immediately. If you are under 21 and drink at Mardi Gras, then you will be prosecuted and have an alcohol offense on your permanent record.

DO NOT Vandalize

This another obvious one, but nobody likes to have their belongings or property destroyed. This includes Hollywood residents who are nice enough to host this Mardi Gras celebration. So let’s be good guests and respect our hosts’ property
